VOLTRON:
This week I'm bringing you one of the most under appreciated big budget movies of the 1990's. MARS ATTACKS, from director
Time Burton, the Director of BATMAN. I have to say that this parody of EARTH VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS and other alien invasion
movies is much, much better then BATMAN.
The story is typical, the Martians have emerged from the depths of Mars and came to Earth under the blanket of peace.
But it was a lie and before you know it, all out war has erupted. But each time the Martians say "We want peace"
the people of Earth are so pussy-whipped in this decades, they still want to believe it.
It has a great cast including Jack Nickleson in a dual role, the President and a sleezy Casino Owner in Vegas. Which should
have been the President's twin brother, a kind of Billy Carter thing. But they didn't go that way and that's cool.
But it has great effect and steller cast, minor character issues. But still, it didn't deserve to get slammed by the
critics the way it did and like HOWARD THE DUCK was in the eighties was ignored by the public. It was a dark comedy and the
all star cast lined up to get killed by Martians, that alone deserves a rental. Yes, it's underrated, it's under appreciated,
it's Tim Burton's MARS ATTACKS. Check it out for a ton of laughs.
